00:00:00: Now we turn our attention to athletics: Wuppertal’s home to soccer is the Zoo Stadium coming up on your left. The arena was built in 1924 and is something very special. Take a look at the main stands we are just passing.
00:00:19: The historic façade was preserved when the facility was rebuilt in the nineties. Up to 25,000 soccer fans can watch the local team play. Incidentally, we are almost as fond of our football club as we are of the suspension monorail, even though the players’ success isn’t always as reliable as the monorail.
00:00:40: Don’t be frightened when you look down. Although the river has disappeared, we haven’t lost our way. We have simply turned into the stretch of track that runs above the street.
00:00:52: From here onwards – for the remaining three kilometers or so – we will be travelling over terra firma. But the section over the River Wupper, covering more than ten kilometres, is still considerably longer.
